The 6th annual Kentucky 4-H Homecoming is just around the corner, June 11th at the Campbell House in Lexington. Homecoming is inviting all past members that 4-H has touched, in either small or large parts, to join in on the fun. Registration is now live, so don’t wait another minute to register for a night to reunite with fellow 4-H’ers, volunteers, mentors, and friends from across the years where you can share some laughs and support Kentucky 4-H.

2015 Homecoming-0250Friday night, June 10th, will be a Chairman’s Coffee and Dessert Reception at the Campbell House in Lexington at 8:00 pm.  Pam Larson, Chairwoman of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation, says, “This is a great opportunity to kick off our Homecoming weekend.  We also hope this is an opportunity for the current state teen council to join us for some relaxation and fellowship before they start their busy Senior Conference Week.” Pam would like to extend an invitation to anyone coming in a night early for Homecoming and to those in the area that would love to spend more time reminiscing on 4-H.

Homecoming serves as the perfect platform to recall how 4-H played an instrumental role in your youth, reconnect with past friends, volunteers and mentors, as well as re-link you with the current happenings in 4-H.  It is also a great way to meet new people who share the common foundation of the investment in 4-H. “For a lot of people Facebook has been a nice way to reconnect with old friends, but nothing beats being able to get together face to face at least once a year,” said Lois Flaugher Manley, Co-Chair Kentucky 4-H Homecoming.

While the main event will be reconnecting and seeing past 4-H friends, other activities will be sure to keep the memories flowing.  Just to name a few favorites, the memorabilia section from over the decades will be on showcase. A highlight of the program has always been Who’s In The Crowd, with this year being no exception with Senator Ernie Harris emceeing. During this time of sharing, we always discover hushed adventures, sweet memories and a little mischief.

The 2014/15 State 4-H Teen Council joins the group for pledges and the opening program

Since this year is the 40th anniversary of the Chartering of State Teen Council, those STC members will be present along with the founding officer team.  The 25th and 50th year officer teams will also be recognized that night. While we ruminate about the past, we also look to the future with the entire current State Teen Council present, along with the current State Officer Team leading us in pledges and having short remarks.

“Homecoming is a chance to relive all those special 4-H memories and create new ones,” said Ruth Ann Hendrick, Co-Chair Kentucky 4-H Homecoming. Tickets for the event are $50 per person and the deadline to purchase your Homecoming tickets is Friday, May 27th.
