4H4-H is one of three organizations serving young people in agriculture that is vying for a special $100,000 funding boost in the Farm Credit Mid-America 299 Ways to Say Thanks campaign. In addition to 4-H, FFA and the Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers program are in contention for the prize across the Farm Credit association area of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

The winner will be determined by the greatest number of online votes. Kentucky 4-H members, volunteers, Agents, alumni and friends are encouraged to cast their vote supporting 4-H. Participants may vote one time per day throughout the campaign ending January 1, 2015. To cast your vote, simply visit e-farmcredit.com/299Thanks.

“Kentucky 4-H has more than 238,000 reasons to win the 299 Ways to Say Thanks campaign — the more than 238,000 4-H members across the Commonwealth,” said Keith Rogers, executive director, Kentucky 4-H Foundation. “With 30 percent of the K through 12 population participating in Kentucky 4-H, no other youth development organization can impact such a large segment of our kids. To put it simply, we develop the young people who will be part of the future of farm life in the United States.”FCFCS_Logo_R2_v2Farm Credit Mid-America, an agricultural lending cooperative serving nearly 100,000 customers, has a long history of funding educational and leadership programs for young farmers, and helping secure the future of farm life in America. These activities dovetail nicely with those of 4-H, which reaches more than 6 million urban, suburban and rural youth. Fueled by university-backed curriculum and the U.S. Cooperative Extension System, 4-H’ers engage in hands-on learning activities in the areas of science, healthy living and food security.

“Our 299 Ways to Say Thanks campaign will help support an organization that trains future agricultural leaders,” said Bill Johnson, president and chief executive officer, Farm Credit Mid-America. “We encourage everyone to help us pass on our gratitude by going online to vote for the organization of their choice to receive this donation.”

The winning organization will be announced January 5, 2015.
