March has arrived and with it the hope that spring is just around the corner. As everyone begins to focus on warmer weather there is one task every farmer must do in March: renew their farm license plates at the county clerk’s office.
Do you have a Kentucky farm license plate on any of your vehicles? If so, the 4-H Foundation asks you to support 4-H by making the $10 Ag Tag donation when renewing each plate.
Do your neighbors, family members or friends have a farm license plate? I am sure someone you know does, so help support 4-H and the over 256,000 Kentucky 4-H members by encouraging them to make the $10 Ag Tag donation when renewing their plates.
We are excited to have the support of Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture James Comer and the county clerks. Through Commissioner Comer’s Ag Tag Program, more than $1.3 million has been raised since 2012 to support Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA and the Kentucky Proud program all of which are vital programs for Kentucky’s youth and the agricultural economy of the Commonwealth.
Last year Kentucky 4-H received $169,280.21 as its portion of the donations. Half of those funds are returned to the county where the donation originated.
The counties utilize the donations on the local level funding programs and activities that teach 4-H members about leadership, citizenship, science, technology, communications, public speaking, agriculture and more. The 4-H Foundation uses its share to support state level 4-H activities for participating youth providing additional positive experiences and opportunities.
The agricultural community can be instrumental in helping to develop tomorrow’s leaders by making the Ag Tag donation this month. With over 184,000 Kentucky farm license plates the potential financial support for 4-H, FFA and Kentucky Proud is huge.
Kentucky 4-H’ers are counting on your support to enable them to develop as strong leaders so they can make a difference in your community. Help us support them by making the Ag Tag donation or by encouraging your neighbors, family members and friends to make the $10 donation. This support will make a difference in the lives of Kentucky’s youth.
