Melanie Watson worked for T. J. Samson Community Hospital for 24 years, the last 15 of those as the Chief Compliance Officer. As a CPA, prior to working at T. J. Samson, she worked in public and corporate accounting positions. Her undergraduate degree in Accounting was earned at the University of Kentucky, and she earned an MBA from the University of Louisville.
A ten-year Monroe County 4-H’er, Melanie was involved with sewing, communications and leadership. She has fond memories from attending National Congress in 1980. She ended her 4-H career with the proud moment of serving as the 1981-1982 State 4-H Vice-President. Melanie was the recipient of the Conrad Feltner award as a youth and again as an adult.
Melanie is looking forward to being a part of an active group of interested people that are invested in providing youth the same or better opportunities in 4-H. 4-H has been a shared event in the Watson family with both parents being active volunteers and their daughter involved as well. Her daughter is in the University of Kentucky class of 2019.
