
Dr. Jerry D. Westerfield leaves behind a legacy of service, generosity, and dedication to Kentucky 4-H. A proud 4-H alumnus, Dr. Westerfield often credited his experiences in 4-H with helping shape his future and inspiring him to pursue a successful career in radiology. Alongside his brothers, he grew up in a family deeply rooted in 4-H, where the values of leadership, hard work, service, and community provided a strong foundation for each of their successful careers.
Throughout his life, Dr. Westerfield remained committed to giving back to the organization that helped shape him. As a longtime supporter of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation, he made a tremendous impact on generations of young people across the Commonwealth. His generosity and vision helped expand opportunities for Kentucky 4-H youth, particularly through his support of Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference and the Kentucky 4-H State Teen Council.
Dr. Westerfield was also a passionate supporter of Cloverville and the future of Kentucky 4-H programming at the Kentucky State Fair. His commitment to the growth and success of Cloverville was evident through his involvement in the Clover Heritage Society, where he was recognized at the highest giving level. His support helped ensure that generations of 4-H youth would continue to have opportunities to learn, lead, and showcase their talents for years to come.
Dr. Westerfield was recognized as a Lifetime Leadership Circle member of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation, reflecting his enduring commitment to the mission of 4-H. In 2019, the Westerfield family was inducted into the Kentucky 4-H Family Hall of Fame, honoring their multigenerational dedication and service to the program.

More than his accomplishments and generosity, Dr. Westerfield will be remembered as a kind, humble, and generous man who cared deeply about helping young people succeed. His impact on Kentucky 4-H will continue to be felt for years to come through the lives of the youth he inspired and supported. He will be deeply missed by the entire Kentucky 4-H community.
