Q: Why did you want to be a Kentucky 4-H State Officer? Did someone inspire or help you make that decision?
Morelia: I was inspired to become a Kentucky 4-H State Officer after seeing the impact officers had on younger 4-H’ers. My oldest sister, Paloma, was a state officer. Throughout her term, I was able to witness the friendships, impacts, and opportunities this experience gave her.
Q: How many years have you been in 4-H? What has been your primary focus in 4-H?
Morelia: I started my Kentucky 4-H journey as a Cloverbud and have been a member for nearly 13 years. My “main focus” has always been to take advantage of every opportunity to make a difference in my community and grow as a stronger leader.
Q: What has been your favorite part of 4-H thus far?
Morelia: My favorite part so far has been the friendships I have made throughout the years. I have been fortunate enough to grow alongside so may 4-H’ers and watch each other become adults through this program. The best part is I am now on this year’s 4-H officer team with three of these incredible people.
Q: What are your goals as a State Officer in your position? What do you want to accomplish?
Morelia: My main goal is to give back to the youth of Kentucky 4-H. I want to help create even better opportunities for our 4-H’ers to make a difference and grow into greater leaders. I strive to build friendships so 4-H’ers know they are always supported in their endeavors. I have always been supported by past State 4-H Officers and my hope is to have that same impact on others.
Q: Who do you want to meet and learn from while you are in office?
Morelia: I would like to meet and learn from other 4-H’ers! I am constantly inspired by the stories and ideas of other 4-H members. I cannot wait to meet as many people as possible!
Q: How do you define “leadership”? “Success”?
Morelia: I define successful leadership as any situation where a lesson is learned, task have been accomplished, or someone has been inspired.
Q: What advice would you give a younger 4-Her?
Morelia: My advice to a younger 4-Her would be to go to every 4-H opportunity possible. You will never know what you are passionate about if you never try anything new.
“I am who I am because of the Kentucky 4-H program,” said Morelia Falcon. “not only has this program given me a platform to learn and grow as a leader, it has allowed me to inspire others to do the same.”
