In a world where creativity and community intersect, one young individual has carved a unique path through the vibrant experiences offered by 4-H. With a love for indie, folk, and alternative music, and a penchant for sci-fi and fantasy films, she embodies the spirit of exploration that 4-H fosters.
From sculpting and jewelry making to playing the saxophone, she embraced countless hobbies. However, writing remains her true passion—an outlet that fuels her imagination and drives her thirst for adventure.

For many, joining 4-H is a rite of passage. For this young leader, it was a natural extension of their family’s legacy. Introduced to the program at an early age, her journey began with a Hampshire gilt named Oreo. “Raising her taught me invaluable lessons about dedication and hard work,” Samantha recalls. Eleven years in 4-H shaped her identity, instilling values that would guide her through life’s challenges.
What keeps her returning to 4-H is the promise of endless growth. Each project—from livestock to photography—has cultivated grit, confidence, and adaptability. The highlight of her 4-H journey was serving on the State Science, Engineering, and Technology Leadership Board, a transformative experience filled with collaboration among the brightest minds. “It was there that I truly discovered my passion for leadership and mentorship,” she reflects.
At its core, 4-H is about igniting passion. “It has the power to uncover purpose in anyone willing to engage,” she says. This belief drives her commitment to fostering community and cultivating tomorrow’s leaders. Every day is a new opportunity to reignite the sparks discovered through 4-H. Leadership, mentorship, and creativity are the driving forces that inspire them to rise each morning, eager to make a difference.
Growing up in a bustling city like Lexington, she faced both opportunities and challenges. While the local 4-H program was small, they took it upon themselves to expand its reach. “I created virtual resources to connect more youth with valuable experiences,” she explains, emphasizing the importance of accessibility.
Service is woven into the fabric of her identity. Through 4-H, she engages in volunteering, mentoring, and community interaction, always eager to learn from others while sharing her own skills and experiences.
The multifaceted skill set gained through 4-H—public speaking, empathy-driven leadership, and adaptability—has prepared her for whatever lies ahead. “These skills enhance my confidence and open doors to new opportunities.”
She recalled the journey through college admissions as daunting, but the skills gained in 4-H guided her through. “I applied everything I learned during my applications and interviews,” she shares proudly, recounting the joy of securing a spot at their dream school.
4-H has instilled a deep understanding of empathy and collaboration in leadership for Samantha. As Secretary and Chair of the SET board, she guided teams while championing community engagement and knowledge sharing. With a bright future on the horizon, this young leader is ready to make a meaningful impact. The upcoming National 4-H Congress promises further opportunities for growth, and she is excited to refine her skills and inspire others.
In a world full of possibilities, the journey through 4-H has not just shaped her path; it has lit the way for future generations to follow.
