I don’t want you to miss the 2013 Kentucky 4-H Homecoming! 4-H Homecoming is now in April — not June, as in the past — so with just over one month before the event, it is time to begin making your reservations for the event.
The Kentucky 4-H Homecoming has become the signature event of the 4-H Foundation’s efforts to reconnect former 4-H’ers, who we refer to as alumni, plus all other 4-H friends, volunteers, and supporters of 4-H. If you have ever had any relationship with 4-H and believe in our mission of Making the Best Better, then Homecoming is where you should be on April 20. 4-H Homecoming is for all who hold 4-H near and dear to their heart, want to reconnect with old friends, want to make new friends, and want to support 4-H and the youngsters who participate in it.
The 2013 Kentucky 4-H Homecoming will be held Saturday, April 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Georgetown. Activities include a reception, dinner, silent auction, program, 4-H memorabilia, and historic slide show. Tickets are $40 per person and we ask that you please RSVP by April 12. The Hilton Garden Inn is providing a great room rate of $89 a night (plus tax) including breakfast, for the entire weekend. But this room rate is good only until April 8, so make your reservations today. Contact the hotel at 502-863-0099 and tell them you are with the Kentucky 4-H Foundation or provide the group code: “4H2”. For more details about the hotel, click on Hilton Garden Inn Georgetown.
New to this year’ Homecoming is an optional outing at Keeneland on Sunday, April 21; tickets are $10 per person when ordered by April 1. You can pay by either check or credit card. The Homecoming Registration Form can be filled out online and printed from your computer. Or, if you are paying by credit card, you simply pay online. Additional details about this year’s 4-H Homecoming are available by clicking on the Homecoming website page or you may contact me at 270-735-6130 or by email at KeithL.Rogers@uky.edu.
The first two 4-H Homecomings were huge successes, outgrowing the E. S. Goodbarn after its first year. Attendance at the events have been great, with folks traveling to Kentucky from across the country (a total of 11 states were represented the first year). Attendees have included former 4-H’ers from the 1940s all the way through the current State 4-H Officers. We have had former State 4-H Officers from as early as 1954 and 1957 attend Homecoming. In addition to all this, we have raised more than $11,000 for Kentucky 4-H.
Once again, the Kentucky Cattlemen Association will provide their famous rib-eye steaks and all the fixings for dinner. The only other thing we need is your attendance and your support to make this a wonderful evening of good memories, good fun, and good food! This is your chance to reconnect with friends while helping to assure a bright future for Kentucky 4-H. Please make your reservations NOW and join us for the fun on April 20.
