Sunday kicked off this year’s annual State 4-H Horse Show in Louisville at the Kentucky Exposition Center. This week long show includes approximately 700 4-H’ers from across Kentucky participating in varied competitions such as; miniature, dressage and saddleseat. The show also includes a division for equestrians with special needs.

The Kentucky 4-H Horse Program is the largest agricultural project in Kentucky 4-H with approximately 5,000 4-H’ers involved, which makes Kentucky’s program one of the highest enrollments in the nation. The Program is designed to reach youth that have a passion for horses, whether they own one or not.  The program offers a variety of areas that the 4-Hers can be involved, learn valuable skills, and make friends for life.  To participate in state level 4-H events you must be a member of your county 4-H Horse club and complete 6 hours of education through the club’s certified volunteer leader.

This show wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors, volunteers and 4-H staff. First we would like to thank the Kentucky Corn Growers Association, we are endlessly grateful for their continued support of the Horse Program and Kentucky 4-H. We would also like to thank all the 4-H volunteers and staff for donating their time and energy to make this show happen.

KYCornGrowersLogoThe 4-H Foundation was also able to be the arena and facilities sponsor, made possible with the Ag Tag voluntary donations. We would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who donated to the Ag Tag program from the Foundation; your donation truly does make a difference in the lives of these young 4-Her’s.

Good luck to all the 4-H’ers competing this week! Have fun and we will see you next year!
