Dr. Carl Hurley, “America’s Funniest Professor” will be the Keynote Speaker for the 2014 Kentucky 4-H Homecoming.

In less than a month, 4-H friends, alumni and supporters will gather for the 2014 Kentucky 4-H Homecoming. Will you be there?

This year’s Homecoming will offer a special treat. The Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Carl Hurley, motivational humorist and entertainer who has earned the title of “America’s Funniest Professor” will be the keynote speaker. Many will recognize Dr. Hurley’s name from his appearances on television and radio, some will recognize him as the banquet speaker at Kentucky 4-H Week in the 1980’s.

Carl Hurley, drawing from his roots in the tradition of such other American humorists as Andy Griffith and Garrison Keillor, delights audiences with his reflections on life as viewed by a native of Appalachia with a singular sense of the absurd. Part of a family of natural-born storytellers from the hills of Laurel County, Kentucky, Hurley combines his innate skills as a yarn-spinner with the expressiveness of a great comic actor. With an impish giggle on his lips and a benign twinkle in his eye, Hurley spreads an infectious form of fun that is often outrageous yet always good-natured and clean.

“We are delighted to reconnect Dr. Hurley to Kentucky 4-H and to take our Homecoming program to the next level,” said Pam Rowsey Larson, 4-H Homecoming Chairwoman. “Homecoming is becoming a great 4-H tradition, giving 4-H friends, alumni, and supporters the opportunity to reflect back on the memories, people, and experiences they enjoyed in 4-H.”

4-H Homecoming is open to everyone and because it’s the people in attendance and the memories shared that help to make Homecoming fun, it’s time to make your plans to join in NOW! Think about it, a great occasion to connect with friends while helping to assure a bright future for the organization that helped you become who you are today. It does not get any better than that!
